After a successful 30 year career as a freelance technical writer, I decided to retire and go to film school.
Over ten years later, to my surprise and gratification, I find myself a published author with two books on film making.
Digital Video Secrets shows how to make single-camera, ultra-low budget films with any camera. Producing With Passion--co authored with Oscar nominated film maker Dorothy Fadiman--shows how to use Dorothy''s innovative and successful film making process to make powerful, successful documentaries. My current project is a nonfiction book. After that I plan to learn how to write a novel that works, using Shawn Coyne's extraordinary book Story Grid and the associated Story Grid podcast. |
After four years in the US Air Force, I went to college on the GI Bill. I graduated from Cal State University Hayward in 1971. Since then, I've worked as a freelance technical writer, corporate trainer, electronic technician, mail carrier, yoga teacher and crew chief for a hot-air balloon company. After film school, I worked for a documentary film company and wrote about film.
In 2008 I became a certified yoga teacher. Since 2013 I have been studying yoga with Tony Briggs.
My wife and I live in Northern California.
